Sometimes I forget we are plummeting in space at high velocity…
And there’s even more to it.
The Earth is rotating around the Sun at a speed of 70,000 mph.
The Sun is rotating around the centre of the galaxy at a speed of 560,000 mph.
And the galaxy is moving away from the centre of the universe at a speed of 1,230,000 mph. (-ish, there’s lot’s of debate about this and a lot of it depends on what you’re measuring it against)
So right now, you’re hurtling through space at a speed of about 1,800,000 mph.

Artist Corrie White uses dyes and droplets to capture fantastical liquid sculptures at high-speed. The mushroom-like upper half of this photo is formed when the rebounding jet from one droplet’s impact on the water is hit by a well-timed second droplet, creating the splash’s umbrella. In the lower half of the picture, we see the remains of previous droplets, mixing and diffusing into the water via the Rayleigh-Taylor instability caused by their slight difference in density relative to the water. There’s also a hint of a vortex ring, likely from the droplet that caused the rebounding jet. (Photo credit: Corrie White)

This takes playing HORSE to a whole new level! French architecture firm a/LTA has designed the perfect urban park fixture in Nantes, France for kids of all ages and sizes! The basketball tree not only gives kids a greater chance of finding an empty hoop, but it also allows them to have a fair shot at making a basket.
The functional structure known as Arbre à Basket, roughly translated as Basket Tree, features five separate basketball hoops attached to limbs that branch out from one tree-like sculptural post. The baskets, each equipped with its own backboard, are each positioned at different heights, allowing for the all-inclusive public to engage in multiple games on the court. Tiny tots and growing kids need not shy away from the fun to be had with their height-appropriate basket. With time, they can move on to the higher hoops, creating a challenge for themselves that can span several years. (Source)
Wings by Dukno Yoon: Movement and interactive relationship with the body has been the most important element throughout my body of work. However through these works, I also started to explore the mechanical structure as a form. Mechanical structure becomes the most enjoyable form to me as it becomes complex yet remains simple and coherent. The contrast between metal structural form and natural feather, together with the repetitive and whimsical movements of fragile wings, provokes the imagination and evolves the intimate relationship between work and viewer/wearer. Although the recent series, segmented wings have been focused on the formal challenge to engineer an intricate movement that simulates bird wings, these works are intended to be a series of poems in which I develop my own formal language, interpret the nature of wings, create various structural forms with movements, and share the metaphor, imagination, humour, with viewer/wearer.
